The sole purpose of this article is to point out some interesting ideas to blog about. These ideas can be used for recreational blogging. Do you enjoy writing? Then this article may be for you. Another reason I wanted to write this blog was to make the clear distinction between writing blogs for fun and writing blogs with intentions to make money from it. The latter, by the way, is the subject of many other articles I had written for this website.

All recreational blogging has a purpose. The nature of reasons to write a blog is different for different people, as one would expect. Some bloggers write about "green" technologies to educate others about the advantages of saving power. I believe that blogging is a great medium for expressing your personal ideas and entice others to listen to you, given you are a good, persuasive writer. Are you involved in any type of an organization? What are your thoughts on the environment in which you work? What do you think about your coworkers? Is there anything you'd like to improve about your life? How would you approach doing that? These are just some of the ideas to write recreational blogs about. Writing about any subject in particular can strengthen your knowledge of that subject and prepare you for conversations with other people in the future.

It is not uncommon for bloggers to express their emotions and share their development process with others. Writing a blog about an accomplishment of any kind is like making an additional statement that confirms the hard work it took to get there. People like reading blogs like these because it gives them an example to follow in their own lives. Generally people seek out experience. If someone had written about experience of any kind in their blog, it becomes an interesting read for people who have not had that type of experience. Write about the obstacles that you have overcome. This information can help other people to gain the knowledge that you have without necessarily living through that experience. Some of the most profound effects that you can have on people with your blog are commonly invisible. For example, when I track my blog statistics in Google Analytics, it is difficult to see why some people spent more time on the same page than others. Even by intentionally targeting content, it is difficult to have everyone read your articles thoroughly.

Understanding why people take the time to read your blogs is crucial to building a blog that has value. And everyone seems to talk about value. But value is a different thing in a different context. For example, when you found this article on Google or from other links on other sites, you had an intention. You may be a beginner or an experienced blogger, but in any case, you were looking for information of some sorts. If you are still reading this article, it has captured your attention. But many other people who came to this page left in under 8 seconds. So what is the difference then? It is because you saw value in something that made sense to you, something you were curious about. Sometimes it can be small details. Perhaps you enjoyed my writing style. Maybe that other person left after reading half of the first paragraph because they didn't like the writing style. It is definitely a world of complexity and we don't always have full control over the content we write in our blogs as well as the audience that gets to read them.

Some things make blogging even more exciting. For example, how would you like to get paid for your efforts to write good articles that people would learn from? This is possible and some bloggers figure out ways to make thousands of dollars a day by posting new blogs every few days. These bloggers usually have a following of fans who subscribe to their RSS feeds. More about this in other articles.

One of the other elements of blogging is the community. Many blogs give the ability to comment on them. This is an excellent way of communicating between the blog author and his or her readers. The readers may provide additional resources or thoughts on the subject of the blog. It is common for the blog author to have conversations with the readers who post comments. Usually the blog's author's comments are highlghted for easy identification. Many blogs require the webmaster to approve comments due to the large amounts of spam floating on the Internet. This spam can devalue your blog or sometimes even wreck your traffic patterns.
